Eames House of Cards, Collector's Edition

A building toy designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1952. 32 slotted cards. No glue, no gravity required.

Charles and Ray Eames understood that the best toys teach something without announcing it. House of Cards is 32 cards with slots on every edge: two along each side, one at each end. Lock them together and they stand. Rearrange them and they stand differently. The logic is structural; the pleasure is entirely your own.

Designed in the same decade as the Eames Lounge Chair and the Case Study Houses, it belongs in that body of work: objects that look simple until you realize how carefully they were resolved. This collector's edition was issued in a limited run at 70 years.
